BKS - Nook
Will their new electronic reader Nook help or hurt Barnes & Noble this holiday season? Any thoughts about B&N as a short?

Have you tried it? Is it better than kindle?
I haven't tried it but it looks better than Kindle because you share books with other Nook users. That's pretty cool, but will it hurt the brick and mortar B & N store sales in the future? That remains to be seen.
I'm actually long BKS because of their strong free cash flow ($4/share in 2009). True, it is a declining business but undervalued even with a zero growth scenario. It wouldn't surprise me to see some of their competition disappear. Z is about 2, which is in the grey zone.
Z"-Score is under 0.8 now, and Z"-scores below 1.1 indicate distress. My girlfriend is reading a Nook right now and just said she wishes she bought a Kindle: she figures if B&N goes bankrupt, she'll have to get a Kindle anyway.
